And It's Here! The First Teaser of STAR WARS Episode 9!
The first teaser for the final installment in the Star Wars franchise got released and nobody can contain their chill!
The teaser dropped at a Star Wars celebration event in Chicago, and everyone was eagerly waiting for what this episode would be named and “Rise of Skywalker” does not disappoint! It’s just giving rise to many more questions. If you STILL haven’t seen the teaser trailer, here it is below!
After watching this, I have to talk about the significant moments shown in the teaser and also all the important moments from the Star Wars Celebration event held at Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center.
1. A New Droid
Meet DE-o, a new droid who seems to be a friend of BB-8s. And BB-8 needs no introduction! Anyways, there is no information about this droid and what it is that he can do apart from the fact that he looks like a messier version of that Pixar lamp. Knowing how much love has been given to the previous driods (C3PO, R2D2, and BB8), DE-o will probably be just as loved and popular!
2. Here’s Lando!
The smile you have on your face while watching the teaser instantly grows bigger when you see Lando (played by Billy Dee Williams). He’s sitting right next to our favorite Wookie in our favorite ship, The Millennium Falcon. You go right back to ‘Return of the Jedi’ to that scene when Lando blows up the death star! And that laugh!! GOOSEBUMPS!
3. Which Deathstar?
Speaking of the Deathstar, one scene shows Rey, Poe and Finn standing at the ruins of a deathstar. Now the question is, which deathstar is it? The one showed in ‘A New Hope’ o the one shown in ‘Return of the Jedi’? Or is it another one that we don’t even know about? Sooo many questions!
4. The Beautiful Embrace!
Leia and Rey hugging will give you serious feels! Especially since it’s a deleted scene from episode 7! Director JJ Abrams said at the panel that he didn’t want to use CGI for Carrie Fisher. Instead they have used unused footage from Episode 7.
"We desperately loved Carrie Fisher," said director J.J. Abrams. "Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie's legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII. You don't recast that part and you don't suddenly have her disappear. The weird miracle of having a number of scenes from Force Awakens that had got unused... there was actually a way to use those scenes and continue her story."
5. Learn the dark side of the force!
“No ones ever really gone,” That’s what Luke Skywalker says and this comes back to you when you hear that cackling laugh of Palpatine at the end of the teaser! At the event held in Chicago, Ian McDiarmid (the actor who plays Palpatine) comes on stage just as the trailer ends! So what does this mean? Cz we saw Vader overthrow him in ‘Return of the Jedi’ and then the deathstar blown to bits! But if Quigon, Obi-Wan and Yoda can come back as force-ghosts then so can he? Time will tell!
Also, just a fun fact. It seems the star wars logo is blue instead of yellow this time around! Wonder what lead to that change.
Abrams also said at the panel that this film will not immediately follow the events last shown in ‘The Last Jedi’.
"Some time has gone by," he said. "This is an adventure that the group goes on together."
But seriously hoping that all our 1000s of questions will be answered and all mysteries put to rest after watching the final episode!
